Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar
III has said that whoever picks up arms to kill a human being is an animal.
While speaking at the 2017 National
Security Summit on Framer and Pastoralist clashes, the Sultan maintained that
those who cause havoc across the country should also be referred to as animals.
He condemned the incessant clashes
between the farmers and herdsmen across states of the federation, the Sultan
said: “We don’t support anybody picking up arms to kill another person."
He further said; “We must be honest
with ourselves. Our problem is not with organizing symposia, summits, and fora
on challenges of security”.
“Our problem is non-implementation
of the several decisions and recommendations from such summits due to
dishonesty and selfishness”.
He contend that, “You cannot claim
freedom of expression and insult everybody; you cannot claim freedom of
religion and cause problems.”
