The Abia State Police Command has apprehended a Fulani
herdsman known as Adamu Abubakar who reportedly shot a commercial cyclist (Okada)
rider. It was learnt that on May 27, at around 2am, the okada rider, Uyime, who
stays at Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria, Akwette reported that he carried
two passengers later identified as Adamu Abubakar and one other yet to be seen
from Azumiri to Akwette.
On the way, the duo attempted to snatch the bike
from him and as he resisted, they shot at him. On May 28, detectives attached
to Akwette Division with the help of Vigilante group searched the area and
apprehended Adamu Abubakar with one cut to size locally made pistol and its
live cartridge while the other suspect escaped. Meanwhile, the injured victim is presently receiving
treatment in the hospital while effort is at top gear to arrest the fleeing
suspect.
