Joshua retained his International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Assocation world heavyweight titles with a dangerous display of his punching power to beat Cameroon’s France-based challenger, Takam at the Principality Stadium.
Takam turned Joshua’s 20th consecutive knockout victim in a fourth defence of his IBF belt and first of his WBA title, however the Takam stubbornly resisted Joshua after being cut by the right eye in the 4th round.
Takam also recorded a count in the 4th round before being rounded off by a barrage of unreplied punches which led the referee, Phil Edwards to stop the fight.
Takam however, complained that it was a premature stoppage and the 70,000-crowd sided him as the decision was met with loud jeers.
